Getting to Squirrels Nest Treehouses

Squirrel’s Nest Treehouse Retreats is just a little off the beaten track giving you an even more rewarding peaceful stay, away from the traffic and noise of busy life.

We are located on the Maelinaidd Hill/Common which has narrow and single width country lanes. The road is open access for other vehicles, so be prepared to meet other drivers and of course a few sheep.

Squirrel’s Nest’s lane and entrance to the car park is tarmacked. Please drive slowly and at a maximum of 5mph. Our car park in on a slight slope which is now tarmacked.

Our treehouses are in a secluded location so please be expected to walk at least five-ten minutes over rough and unlevel terrain from the car park. We will provide you with your own wheelbarrow to transport your luggage. The paths to the treehouses are clearly signposted. The paths run through fields of sheep, they are unsteady and rough terrain, with a mixture of gravel and grass (and a bit of sheep poo!). We recommend guests wear suitable footwear. If arriving in the dark we kindly ask guests to bring their own torches as there is no lighting provided on the track.

Arriving at your treehouse

There is a self check-in procedure, so simply park up, relax and enjoy. Wide steps lead up to Cadwollen & Trawscwm balconies, here you will find a hot tub and outdoor seating area. Prince Llywelyn Treehouse has a wide access ramp from ground level.

The main entrance doorways are through wide doorways and leads into the seating and cooking/dining areas. The bathroom’s and walk-in shower are located on the lower floor and in Prince Llywelyn and Trawscwm Treehouses the sleeping areas are provided on the lower floors.

Staircases lead to the higher level sleeping areas in Cadwollen’s and Prince Llywelyn, whereas a ladder leads to the child’s sleeping mezzanine in Trawscwm.

Outside and the grounds

Squirrel’s Nest is part of a 130-acre working family farm, which has lots of sheep which you can see in the surrounding fields. We have lots of wildlife in the local area and feeding station for the birds at each treehouse. There are many walks across the nearby hills all of which can be on slippery and uneven terrain.

The decking on each of the units is treated with non slip paint throughout the year but we suggest that guests are mindful and are aware when walking around,

We do all we can to enhance and nurture the environment around us and hope our guests are able to join us in doing the same.
