Christmas in a luxury treehouse Wales
“I will honour Christmas in my heart, and try to keep it all the year”- A Christmas Carol, Charles Dickens.
The most wonderful time of the year
Looking for a Christmas break in a luxury treehouse in Wales? So Christmas has to be my favourite time of year. What isn’t there to love? Mulled wine (or cider), twinkly lights, baileys hot chocolates, the smell of fresh Christmas trees and cinnamon in the air and of course all the socials.
It can also be an extremely busy and exhausting time with a lot of added pressures. Such as present buying, lengthy road trips to visit family and keeping everyone happy! (Plus a few meltdowns from children, and parents, when the excitement all gets a bit much!)
Have you ever thought about getting away for Christmas? Taking a little mini break or weekend break before all the festive fun starts, to relax and recharge?
Christmas craft and ALL the decorations!
Despite it not being quite as fun as when we were in school – remember when nothing would happen apart from maybe a quiz and some questionable art work in the run up to Christmas? It is still an amazing time of the year. We are busy on the farm as usual, and will soon be decorating all of the treehouses! Something I am very excited for and have been fighting the urge to put them up way before they should be. I could get carried away with decorations however we will try to keep them simplistic and classy.
Handmade and Local
All of the treehouses will have fresh, locally sourced and beautifully bushy Christmas trees. We will be getting a large garland centerpiece for Prince Llywelyn’s dining room table. Also, our wonderful cleaner, Emily, will also be making some beautiful decorations for each of the treehouses. We are also now doing a Cosy Winter Hamper full of delicious welsh treats. Additionally, for guests staying for Christmas day we will of course add a few extra treats! After all, now is the time to be indulgent.
Make Squirrels Nest your choice of Christmas Mini Break in the UK this year (or next!)
Squirrels Nest is perfect for Christmas in a luxury treehouse in Wales. All of our beautiful treehouses are set in the stunning countryside of Mid Wales. They all have hot tubs on your own private decking – peace, tranquility and beautiful views. Squirrels Nest acts as the perfect base to explore everything the area has to offer to get you into the Christmas spirit! We have a few recommendations of places to visit and things to do nearby.
Things to do on your Christmas break in a luxury treehouse in Wales
Firstly, I’d recommend a visit to Powis Castle. See over-the-top Christmas trees, festive fireplaces and beautiful lights transform the 13th century castle into a magical experience. Throughout December, young explorers and their families are invited to follow clues dotted around the garden.
If you’re feeling peckish or need something to warm you up, there’s plenty of delicious treats and drinks available. They offer cakes and mince pies, to festive hot chocolates and afternoon tea.
Secondly, Coed-y-Dinas is also not too far away, you can definitely wallow away a few hours pursuing this country store. Visit Santa’s grotto, pick up a few presents to tick off the list and enjoy the Christmas decorations and lights. Head outside where the kids can enjoy a ride on a vintage merry-go-round and get some Candy Floss to finish!
The popular Royal Welsh Winter fair is another great place to visit nearby. Held in the huge showground in Builth Wells, the show boasts hundreds of trade stands and a judging ring showcasing some of the finest livestock in the UK.
Squirrels Nest promises to be one of the best family breaks for Christmas and you will be sure to create some extra special memories with your loved ones – or maybe it will become a new Christmas tradition. For a little bit of family fun, just over an hour away is Theatre Severn where this years pantomime performance is Beauty and The Beast.
Or simply just enjoy each others company! Wrap up warm and take Winter walks across the fields or cosy up on the sofa with a sharing platter of cheese and crackers!
