Are you looking for a romantic location to hold an intimate vow renewal ceremony in Wales? Here at Squirrels Nest we have the perfect location at one of our secluded treehouses. Nestled within the rolling Radnorshire hills here in Wales.
Back in October 2019 we welcomed Emma and Mark to Squirrels Nest, where they renewed their wedding vows with us for their 10 year anniversary. The most romantic day, that you are sure to love. So, we wanted to share the details with you.
Emma approached me back in the January to enquire about holding a vow renewal ceremony here at Squirrels Nest in Wales. And I was over the moon to be able to say that yes, this was completely possible.
Emma organised the whole thing as a surprise for her husband Mark. As part of the celebrations for their 10 year anniversary. And not only that, but she managed to do it all for under £1200! With gorgeous boho and rustic inspired detailing, this vow renewal really has the wow factor!
Emma told us:
Our marriage so far had been full of ups and downs as you would expect with most marriages. But I wanted to consolidate our love and show Mark how much his love and support means to me. I was excited to work with Laura and John at Squirrels Nest to plan our dream day. And they both helped me to pull it off to perfection. Even the weather held out long enough for our outdoor ceremony!
How would you describe your vow renewal ceremony?
It was intimate, peaceful, meaningful, and so full of love. Everything a renewal of vows should be. Squirrels Nest was the perfect location. Not only did we get to spend a few nights in the most unique and private treehouse accommodation in Wales. But we had the most amazing backdrop for our ceremony with not a soul in sight.
The Day:
As they lifted their heads from the comfy bed at Trawscwm Treehouse, Emma knew that this was to be an extremely exciting day. Whereas Mark was none the wiser. It was during breakfast that Emma popped the question with a photo album full of memorable photos of the two of them. Whilst Emma and Mark then proceeded to get ready, we organised the flowers onto the ceremony arch. And greeted the celebrant and photographer.
Once Emma and Mark were ready they walked up to the arch in the field behind Trawscwm. They shared the most romantic and intimate vow renewal ceremony. Which included a hand fasting ceremony by the celebrant Dinah Liversidge.
After the ceremony and photographs, Emma and Mark shared one of our Honeymoon Hampers. The perfect treat, no cooking involved!
It was an honour to share Emma and Marks special day. And we hope to welcome many more couples to our romantic retreat here at Squirrels Nest in Wales. For more intimate vow renewal ceremonies.
The details:
The Dress
Emma found the dress online and to begin with it looked nothing like this. She knew that she could create the boho inspired dress she was imagining. Emma managed to sew a new lining into it and alter the dress to fit better. We think the end result was amazing. She paired it with a pair of leather boots she already owned, for a great autumnal and boho look!
The Suit
Mark wore some navy chinos that he already owned and a white shirt from Debenhams. Emma bought the tweed waistcoat and tie from a high street store local to them. And the shoes were borrowed from a friend!
The Flowers
Emma chose to use a florist she works closely with back in her home county of Lincolnshire. The Spotted Dog Flower Co. Linda, the owner, grows all her own flowers. As it was autumn and not much available seasonally, Emma chose to go with a dried flower arrangement to fit the boho and autumnal theme perfectly. The flowers were grown, dried and arranged beautifully all by Linda.
The Photographer
Emma hired Hannah from Rock Salt Photography to capture their special moments throughout the day. A local photographer to us here at Squirrels Nest in Wales. I think you will agree she captured the day perfectly!
The Celebrant
Dinah Liversidge was the celebrant for the ceremony. Living locally she was the obvious choice. But also, Emma just instantly knew upon talking to her that she was the lady! Dinah is such a kind and warm-hearted person. She thoughtfully put the ceremony together with the help of Emma. Helping to write vows, pick poems and organise the intimate hand fasting ceremony.
By being thrifty, borrowing from friends and using some creative skills, Emma managed to organise the entire intimate 10 year vow renewal and stay at Squirrels Nest for under £1200. Don’t feel like you need to put on a grand affair for others. This is about the love you both share and celebrating that together.
