“I will honour Christmas in my heart, and try to keep it all the year”- A Christmas Carol, Charles Dickens.

So Christmas has to be my favourite time of year. What isn’t there to love? Mulled wine (or cider), twinkly lights, baileys hot chocolates, the smell of fresh Christmas trees and of course all the socials.

Despite it not being quite as fun as when we were in school, remember when nothing would happen apart from maybe a quiz and some questionable art work in the run up to Christmas? it is still an amazing time of the year. We are busy on the farm as usual, and will soon be decorating all of the Treehouses! Something I am very excited for and have been fighting the urge to put them up way before they should be. I could get carried away with decorations however we will try to keep them simplistic and classy.

All of the Treehouses will have fresh locally sourced Christmas trees. It will actually be Prince Llywelyn’s first Christmas due to only opening in April 2021. Being 56 square metres it will definitely require lots of decorations! We will be getting a large garland centrepiece for Prince Llywelyn’s dining room table, made by the talented Sammy at The Florist Bromfield. Our wonderful cleaner, Emily, will also be making some beautiful decorations for each of the treehouses. We are also now doing a Cosy Winter Hamper full of delicious welsh treats. After all, now is the time to be indulgent.

If you are planning on staying with us this festive season or maybe next year, we have a few recommendations of places to visit and things to do nearby. Firstly, I’d recommend a visit to Ludlow Medieval Christmas Fayre. This hugely popular annual event is well worth a visit. Ludlow market square is filled with independent stalls, tasty treats and stocking fillers. Inside Ludlow Castle itself there are exhibitors showcasing unique crafts and most importantly there are performers! Prepare to be amazed by the jesters, fighting knights and storytellers. Secondly, enjoy an evening in Powis Castle. A stunning Welsh fort now in the care of the National Trust. Here you can enjoy a winter wander trail, a spot of Christmas shopping and a festive Afternoon Tea. Charlie’s store is also not too far away, you can definitely wallow away a few hours pursuing this country store. The popular Royal Welsh Winter fair is another great place to visit nearby. Held in the huge showground in Builth Wells, the show boasts hundreds of trade stands and a judging ring showcasing some of the finest livestock in the UK.

Whatever you’re doing this Christmas, enjoy each other’s company, relax & unwind, maybe have a digital detox and drink & be Merry!
